One-day plantation campaign entitled ‘Plant for Pakistan’ was launched on Sunday aiming to plant 1.5 million trees around the country.
Prime Minister Imran Khan took part in the campaign by planting a sapling in Haripur as part of the government’s billion tree Tsunami drive.
Protecting the environment is key to the quality of life, and several SDGs have a strong environmental dimension. Although there is no specific SDG titled “Forests”, the case in point is that SDG 15 addresses forestry in a broad spectrum. Therefore, the aspects concerning forests are relevant for many of the other SDGs, and ”Plant for Pakistan” will have a long-term impact on the environment in Pakistan. Government commitment towards climate will be contributing for better and greener Pakistan.
