The NGO World and Global Goals

The UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, featuring the 17 Sustainable Development Goals was unanimously adopted by world leaders at a historic UN summit in September 2015. The NGO World believes civil society organizations play a vital role in providing basic services to communities that governments and the private sector are unable to reach. To achieve the UN’s ambitious goals by 2030, civil society organizations must also be prepared for an active role in selecting success indicators. The NGO World is linking thousands of youth, NGO’s workers, professionals and researchers daily in online collaboration and engagement, launched a major effort to mobilize its global network and other global partners to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a set of targets relating to future international development.

“The NGO World aims to mobilize NGOs to play a significant role in the context of national SDG an implementation that we consider particularly relevant: holding the stakeholders to account, implementing projects, and communicating the SDGs.”

The NGO World ensures to incorporate all programs activities and objectives linked with SDGs. The NGO World under this program also provides the opportunities to youth groups, NGOs and other stakeholders to build their capacities so that everyone can contribute towards the global goals.

SDGs Model Village: Keeping in mind the fact, achieving the SDGs to end hunger and extreme poverty by 2030 will depend crucially on developing rural areas in the poorest nations of the world, The NGO World has taken a practical initiative “SDGs Model Village”. Through this initiative we plan to address some crucial issues, like financing productive investment, harnessing technology for agriculture transformation, promoting entrepreneurial rural economies and combining infrastructure investment that mainly impacts on productivity which subsequently creates enough livelihood activities in rural areas.

The goals of Converting Ghareeb Abad Village into SDGs Model Village will be achieved by increasing the attention in youth development through knowledge, skills and participation in development activation.

Pakistan has prioritized the Sustainable Development Goals which will enable us to join the league of upper middle class countries by 2030. Pakistan was the first country to adopt SDGs 2030 agenda through a unanimous resolution of parliament.
On 25 September 2018, the 3rd anniversary of the SDGs, thousands of national & local Governments, organizations, youth groups, institutions, businesses and individuals across the world mobilized to take actions together for the Sustainable Development Goals, and show world leaders that people and organizations everywhere are standing behind the Global Goals and expect their leaders to do the same.
The NGO World (TNW) has organized a “Pakistan SDGs Forum” at Hotel Margala, Islamabad. Representatives from Planning Commission of Pakistan and UNDP participated in the event. Large number of representatives of civil society organizations, University students, youth and school children were also been part of this forum.
“The NGO World” has expressed its strong support for an ambitious, transformative and inclusive post 2015 agenda and aims the creation of a “Pakistan SDGs Forum”. Mr. Zafar Iqbal, Executive Director, TNW addressed the audience and shared the objectives of the forum. He told that a platform involving a broad range of civil society organizations and stakeholders in the implementation of SDGs in Pakistan. Strong and inclusive multi-stakeholder partnerships, involving governments, parliaments, local authorities and organized civil society – including the private sector and citizens – will be vital to effect the necessary transformational changes. Pakistan SDGs Forum organized NGOs/CSOs to localize the SDGs in Pakistan.

The “Pakistan SDGs Forum” intends to support citizens and civil society involvement in the implementation, monitoring and review of the new agenda at a national level by developing a platform for Sustainable Development in partnership with the government relevant departments and representatives of organized civil society. This forum shall bring together, on a regular basis, policy actors from government institutions with a broad range of civil society representatives.
Mr. Ibrahim, Head of Pakistan Delegation of Turkish Red Crescent Society also talked to audience and shared the importance of organized and disciplined implementation of SDGs. He expressed that Pakistan has country full of talented, energetic and enthusiastic youth. They just need to provide them proper platform. He thanked to TNW for organizing such an important event. Dr. Shoukat, Director Volunteer In Service department of CUST also addressed and shared the role of educational institutes and students for the development of SDGs.

Dr. Mustansar, Project Director/DG Technical from Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform shared his views on the occasion. He told that government is fully supports to organizations working on SDGs. He further shared the its not possible for any one institute of organization or department to achieve SDGs. We need joint efforts to achieve this. He praised TNW for this event. Furthermore, Representatives from UNDP Quetta, District Literacy and Non Formal Education Department Rawalpindi, Pakistan Red Crescent Society, AKRSP and students and teachers from Islamic International University, Quaid e Azam University, COMSATS, Bahria University and CUST were participated and shared their views on Pakistan SDGs Forum. At the end, Certificates and Shields were presented to Organizations and volunteers.
